The Cure for Insomnia

Well, I've found it! The cure for insomnia! It's the movie "The Queen". Definitely one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. So, if you need a good nap, I definitely recommend going and renting it. Otherwise, save your money! BORING!

Does Your Schedule Reflect God's Priorities?

I recieved this article from a friend though e-mail. I loved it, so I thought I would share.

Does Your Schedule Reflect God's Priorities?
Published on July 06, 2007

Excerpted from TEACH Magazine

I recently heard the question, “Does your schedule reflect your priorities?” I could honestly answer that it did. You see, I have reading to teach, math skills, research skills, potty training . . . Then God spoke directly to my heart, “Cory does your schedule reflect my priorities? Hmm. “So, Lord, what are your priorities?”

“Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Teach this to your children as you sit in your house, as you walk along the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

I am greatly humbled by this very simple directive.

There are things in my schedule that must be done, like laundry, meals, and the physical needs of my children. My children are my closest neighbors. Do I love them as much as I love myself? Am I teaching them to love their God? How did God show his love for us?

“Yet while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

I have great difficulty dying to self and serving selflessly. I have much to learn. I trust Him to show me the needs in my family and how to meet them. He is the source of all wisdom.

I attended a memorial service for a week-old baby the Lord called home. Although the family grieved the loss, they each, including several of their children, gave testimony of their hope in salvation. One daughter spoke of her mother’s willingness to die for this baby, if called to do that. She shared how this showed her a little picture of what Christ did and that she hoped to be like her mom because she has learned so much from her.

“Her children rise up and called her blessed.”

What are my children learning from me? I am learning that every word that comes out of my mouth teaches something. What am I teaching when I speak in frustration? Or when I don’t give my total attention when they have something to tell me? (Eye contact helps here) How about the tone of voice I use, what does that teach?

I am learning, just as my schedule is not my own, my whole life is not my own.

“I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

I humbly accept my calling, and whatever schedules the Lord ordain. I am learning to die to self.

Third Trimester: 28 Weeks!

I had my 28 week appointment today, which also included the one hour glucose test. Everything went great! Ella went with me again, and the doctor we saw today, Dr. Harrison was super nice and let Ella use the doplar to find the heartbeat! She also let her help measure my tummy. :) Ella definitely enjoyed her experience. Everything is measuring right on target. Blood pressure is good, weight is good, and Cooper's heart beat was going strong!

We also made big headway in the nursery today! Yesterday I did all the prep work taping, spackel, taking off all the switch plates/outlet overs, etc...) and then today Reid painted. It looks AWESOME! I would post pictures, but I don't have any wall hangings yet, and I want it to be finished before we take pictures. So, you are just going to have to wait. ;) But the room is painted, the curtain rod is up, all the furniture is back in the room, the crib is put back together, and all of the bedding is on!

We also have some clothes for Cooper now! A good friend of mine who is also expecting, JJ, nannies for a family that has a little girl and 2 boys. They gave JJ a bunch of hand-me-downs for her baby (Which is going to be a girl), but they also sent with her a ton of boy clothes! I went through them last night and took out the things that would work for us. So, I have several cute little outfits ranging from newborn to 12 months! yay! :)

Rejuvinated

Every other Friday I meet with a group of ladies from 9:00-11:00 a.m. that is currently discussing a book about homeschooling. Every time we meet,we have breakfast together, laugh, and have great conversations that leave me, well, REJUVINATED!

Although most of the time we are off topic about the topic at hand, homeschooling, the conversation is always beneficial, and I always feel like a better, more informed Mom when I leave. I can't tell you how much I need this! As Moms, there are so many people/books/shows, etc...that make us feel bad about who we are as women, wives, and Mothers-so to be a part of a group of Christian women like this is so refreshing!

Everytime we meet, I am reminded of how important it is to be surrounded by Christian women who can be there for you-as a friendly smile, as an uplifting comment, as a sounding board, as a prayer warrior, as someone who just understands where you are coming from without being judgemental, as a wealth of wisdom, etc....

So, after yesterday's meeting, I feel refreshed and rejuvinated knowing that there are women who are fighting WITH me on the front lines of life!

Thank you God :)
